OLUṢẸGUN AWONUSI – Professor of English Language/Linguistics
Oluṣẹgun Awonusi is a Professor of English Language/Linguistics who has made significant contributions to knowledge in the areas of intersection of the use of Yoruba and English in the Nigerian democratic political process, sociolinguistics and phonology of Yoruba, variation studies, stylistic and diatipic varieties of languages. He was also a lead researcher on a research project on the sociolinguistic mapping of Yoruba Dialect areas in Nigeria and the West African sub region.
In 2008, the Nigerian Government (The Presidency) awarded him ‘Excellence’ as the best in Education support and Initiative from the South West geo-political zone. He was Honourable Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Ogun State, Nigeria, Vice Chancellor, Tai Ṣolarin University, Ijẹbu-Ode, Ogun State, Nigeria, and Federal University of Education, Kano State, Nigeria.
